Ian Stock

Fiddle, Bouzouki, Guitar, Bodhrán

Ian was smitten by the bothy band in his teens and has been playing Irish music ever since. He started on the guitar and mandolin, and later took up the bouzouki. In 2011 he took up the fiddle. He has had tuition from bob tracey and Joe o'connor and has also taken workshops with siobhan peoples, sorcha costello, Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, Donal O'Connor  and brid harper.

Ian plays a fiddle made by his father, a paul hathway bouzouki, an ovation guitar and a Christian Hedwitschak BODHRÁN.

Kevin Higgins

Banjo, Mandola

Kevin hails from a traditional music family in county leitrim, ireland. He learned the tradition from his father who played the accordion and his brother who plays the banjo. in mid-life kevin also resumed playing the music after acquiring a Paul Doyle mandola. He takes inspiration from De Dannan, Altan and Cathal Hayden. He is currently in the market for a new banjo (not a quick or cheap matter, this...!)

Sara Stock

Concertina, whistle

sara's musical journey began in primary school with a recorder. much later, she discovered the scottish smallpipes and thought that would be her forever instrument until she found the world of the anglo concertina early in 2019. Sara has had tuition from Aileen Bourke and Roger Digby, and has taken workshops with Caitlín Nic Gabhann, Alex Kelly, Paddy Egan, Mairead Hurley and Noel Hill. She is currently dallying with a low whistle.

sara plays small pipes by iain kinnear, a 1970s crabb concertina and a howard whistle.

Linda Darrington

Vocals, bodhrán

Linda has been singing from a very young age, but has really developed her vocal ability over the past ten years, studying popular music  with the London College of Music.  Linda has an interest in various music genres, including the traditional Irish and Scottish music that she sings with Erin's Grove. Much to her surprise, she has has also become the band's bodhrán player.

Alan Turner

Guitar, vocals

The band's newest member Alan has been playing the guitar for most of his life in and around Ipswich, although like many he had a period away from it when the rest of Life intervened. In the past decade he has been active in several bands and sessions and also took on the challenges of Morris dancing. We try not to hold that against him!
