About Erin's Grove

EASTERN ENGLAND IS PERHAPS NOT THE MOST LIKELY PLACE TO FIND IRISH TRADITIONAL MUSIC, BUT IF YOU KNOW WHERE TO LOOK, YOU WILL FIND A LIVELY SESSION SCENE.

ERIN’S GROVE GREW OUT OF ONE SUCH REGULAR SESSION IN COLCHESTER.

ERIN’S GROVE TAKES INSPIRATION FROM A MIX OF THE OLD MASTERS, THE LONG-ESTABLISHED BANDS AND SOME OF THE NEWER ARRIVALS WHO ARE BRINGING FRESH SOUNDS TO THIS ANCIENT MUSIC. THERE ARE BOTH ENGLISH AND IRISH MEMBERS OF THE BAND AND WE PLAY BONA FIDE TRADITIONAL MUSIC.

ERIN’S GROVE IS AVAILABLE FOR BOOKINGS IN AND AROUND EAST ANGLIA.

about irish music

there's more to irish music than meets the eye: It's not all pub singalongs! The music has never been in better health, with more and more people of all ages in ireland and well beyond learning to play, many new bands starting up, and a vibrant session and festival scene. there's something enduring and authentic about this infectious music that seems to cut though the world of manufactured commercial music and appeal to people's better nature.

It's quite a bit different from the stereotypes - a serious form of high-energy music which demands musical skill, and which people work hard to learn. But also one that is great, sociable fun to play.

Erin's Grove aims to be in that mould, giving people in the East of England a taste of musical action from the other side of these Islands. Members of the band regularly play in festivals, workshops and sessions on both sides of the Irish Sea.
